Aaron Rogers and Jack Lalanne are huge Chiropractic Advocates

Super Bowl MVP Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers

What Do Super Bowl MVP Green Bay Packers Q.B. Aaron Rodgers and Fitness Pioneer Jack Lalanne Have in Common?

Green Bay Packers Quarter Back Aaron Rodgers and Jack Lalanne are huge chiropractic advocates.  Actually, Aaron Rodgers dad is a chiropractor in Chico, California and Jack Lalanne was a Doctor of Chiropractic himself.  Chiropractic has developed so much over the years from its founding in 1895 by D.D. Palmer.  I like how Jack Lalanne described how far chiropractic has come over the years, especially with the medical community: "Chiropractors and Medical Doctors used to fight like cats and dogs, now they actually refer patients to one another."  Th  That's just one of the big advancements in chiropractic; acceptance by more and more medical professionals.  Jack also emphasized the importance of keeping the back in proper spinal alignment so that no nerves are being pinched. "The muscles of the back need to be symmetrical from side to side.  If one muscle is tighter on one side compared to the other, it is going to pull the vertebrae towards the tighter side which can cause pinching of the nerve."  It's refreshing to see numerous amounts of people getting the "big picture" and taking their health seriously by incorporating chiropractic into their lifestyle.

What's even more refreshing for myself, and as I told a patient yesterday, is when I convert a non-believer of chiropractic to an extreme believer in chiropractic!  I'm not doing any brainwashing, telling of lies, the only thing I am doing is delivering the chiropractic adjustment and their bodies do the healing.  I can't count the number of patients that have told me what their lives were like before chiropractic (taking all of the pain medications, whether prescribed or non-prescribed), and what their lives are like now with chiropractic on a regular basis (no pain medications, a healthier diet, a corrected spine, and no symptoms).

So, is Aaron Rodgers one of the only NFL players that "is in" to chiropractic?  No.  New Orleans Saints 2006 first round pick, Reggie Bush, has been receiving regular chiropractic care since playing football in high school and his collegiate years.  "I look at Chiropractic care as important to keeping me healthy and at the top of my game.   2010 Hall Of Fame inductee Jerry Rice, who is a spokes person for the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating the public of the many benefits associated with chiropractic care.  "I did a lot of things to stay in the game, but regular visits to my chiropractic made all of the difference", Jerry Rice says.  All 32 teams in the NFL have either one or several Chiropractic Physicians on staff.  The need for chiropractic care in the NFL has been driven by the players desire for optimum performance, and not just for treating injuries.

The good news is that you don't have to be a professional athlete to receive chiropractic care, but you do have to want to make an investment in your health and want to create a healthier lifestyle.  It doesn't matter if you have extreme pain or no pain at all, chiropractic allows you to live life to the fullest.

Hands Down, Chiropractic Adjustments Work!

Hands Down, Chiropractic Adjustments Work!

What I have heard with my patients is that they have been to many Chiropractors before and they did not get the same quality of care that I give to them.  This is truly disappointing to me and makes me feel that many others may have experienced the same or worse experience with other doctors of Chiropractic.

I have found that the skill of motioning the spinal and extremity joints and feeling the supporting muscles and tendons takes much practice before knowing where the problem is and how to correct it.  it also takes the right amount of velocity, force, skill and coordination to realease pressure off a nerve, artery, or vein which can cause pain, numbness, tingly or other symptoms to occur.  This can be corrected if treated properly.  Have you ever had a pebble in your shoe and this continued to irritate your foot while walking until it was removed.  Unfortunately the pebble has not been removed as many times as it should have among our population.  Instead people are turning toward unnecessary surgery or harmful drugs.  You wouldn't cut your foot of so that you wouldn't feel the discomfort from the pebble in your shoe or you wouldn't just numb the pain in your foot with pain killers.  No, of course not! You would correct the cause of the problem by removing the pebble from your shoe.

One question that I get all the time is can you fix this joint problem in one visit?  it depend on many factors such as how long the subluxation has occured, how bad it it, and how healthy the patient is. A Subluxation is when 2 or more spinal joints or extremity joints get stuck and slightly misaligned to a point that it put pressure on a nerve, artery or vein.  This pressure can lead to a lack of nerve or blood supply to important muscles or organs of the body, which can lead to dysfunction and imbalance to those particular tissues that are controlled or fed by that blood or nerve supply.  If you want to see an example of this check out my spinal nerve chart which you can view on my home web page.  Some of the many organs that can be affected are your heart, stomach and lungs.

Now getting back to the question, it could take one visit to several visits to correct the improper mechanics of the spine or extemity joint.  I have found that a Chiropractor with good and sound technique with a proper diagnosis of what is wrong with that particular patient can get quicker results and more lasting corrections.  For example, I have adjusted a patient once and the symptom or condition was so well corrected that it lasted a couple of years and probably may never come back.

The idea of getting maintenance Chiropractic care to your spine and or extemity joints is ideal with eliminating small problems or symptomatic complaints that can get worse and become very debilitating.  Maintance care is typically given at a rate of 1 chiropractic adjustment per month, but if you are very active and physical with work or sports, or under a lot of pressure and stress I would recommend getting a chiropractic adjustment once per week.  Now, you don't have to be in pain in order to get an adjustment.  It could be that your muscle and  joints of the body get sore or stiff which affects you sleep, energy level and mind.  It is true that with a great adjustment which is what I strive for at my office can help all of those things.  Chiropractic can truly help your health dramatically so don't give up if you didn't have success with a chiropractor in the past, but find someone who can help you.  Be an educated consumer, and don't just go to a chiropractor who is convenient in location and at the right price.

Please if you are skeptical and unsure, don't be.  I have put my hands and provided over a million skillful chiropractic adjusments now for over 12 years with over 3,000 patients.  I have seen and witnessed what some may say was a miraculous change in their health and wellness.  I will do what ever I can to make your life easier and more enjoyable.  Come on in and utilize our website special that can be printed off on our website under the New Patient Center tab key.

Yours in Good Health,

Dr. Aaron Shakarian, D.C.

Chiropractic Gives Athletes the Competiive Edge!

Posted on 2009-11-15 19:40:58

Some of the top athletes in the world have publicly praised their chiropractors as both their saviors in times of injury, as well as keys to their reaching their full athletic potential.  These top athletes get their endurance and strength training on the practice field and in the weight room, respectively, and their chiropractic adjustments keep their structure, spines and nervous systems healthy, which helps them perform at their highest level.

When Emmitt Smith retired as the NFL's all time leading rusher, he graciously thanked God, his family and his chiropractor for supporting him in his stellar career.  The three time world champion and 1996 Olympic gold medalist in the Decathlon, Dan O'Brian, during his time considered the world's greatest athlete, has been quoted to say that, if it wasn't for chiropractic, he would not have won the gold medal.  Organized sports have come a long way in embracing the chiropractic profession.

The trend toward chiropractic care caught on widely at the Olympics.  The amateur athletic world seemed to embrace the need for this type of care because of  the demanding nature of their training, as well as their understanding of the mind/body connection, and its relationship to their structural alignment.  It was in 1984 that, for the first time, a chiropractor was officially credentialed by the U.S. Olympic Committee with access to the athletes like any other part of the medical community.  In fact, there were lines to have the adjustments with chiropractors.  Athletes became more and more aware of the edge others were receiving and they flocked to chiropractors so as not to lose out on any natural advantage.

Chiropractic gives athletes the competitive advantage that they need to compete at the highest level, and for the duration of their event.  No wonder youth sports programs around the country are making chiropractic care available to all of their athletes.  This is especially important to college bound athletes who are considering scholarships, as colleges want to invest in healthy kids rather than risk their dollars on young athletes with chronic injuries.

I would like to conclude and let people know that I have experienced chiropractic first hand during my athletic years in high school and eventually at the college level.  Chiropractic TRULY is a key component in allowing an athlete the ability to reach greater athletic performance, and help eliminate and prevent future injuries which could work against you in reaching your athletic goals.

How Chiropractic Works

Posted on 2009-10-18 17:54:27

All health problems can be physical, chemical, or emotional in nature.  Most people understand how emotional stress can contribute or cause certain types of health problems.  Everyone knows when the chemistry of the body is not normal, you can develop health problems, however the majority of people do not understand how and why many health problems can come about from physical causes.

An example of how a problem can come about from something physical would be having a pebble in your shoe.  You would feel pain from the pebble.  The pain would not be from something chemical or emotional.  If you were in pain long enough this could perhaps even throw off your chemistry in the area, but the cause of the problem would actually be something physical.  The reason a person feels pain when there is a pebble in the shoe is because the pebble puts pressure on a nerve of pain.  If there was no nerve of pain in your foot you would not feel the pebble.

A common cause of pain that people suffer with is, in fact, pressure on a local nerve.  An interesting fact is that only 10% of the nerves in the body are related to pain.  90% of the nerves in the body control your function.

For example, you can see if the nerves of sight are functioning properly; you can hear only because the nerves of hearing are functioning properly.  You can move your arm because the nerve that control the muscles of your arm are functioning and you can breathe and digest if the nerves related to these areas are functioning properly.  Put pressure on nerves of function and you feel no pain, you simply don't function properly.

When you remove a pebble from your shoe, pain disappears because pressure or irritation to the nerve has been physically removed.  If there is presure on nerves in the neck causing head or neck pain, when that pressure is relieved these problems will clear up.  If there is pressure on a nerve inhibiting normal function, when that pressure is removed, normal function is once again restored.

This explains why some people have gone to a chiropractor for back pain and then recovered from a different problem altogether.  As they were treated to remove pressure from the nerves that were giving them pain, their digestive or breathing problems improved as well.

For futher details on the relationship between the nervous system and functions in your body, review the 3D Spine Simulator on my web page.
